As passionate filmmakers and cinephiles, we felt very much in our essence creating the poster for this year’s Tacoma Film Festival. For the art, we wanted to play with the escapist whimsy of cinema to create a surreal design, one that was inspired by the interaction of light with space but—like a good film—is imbued with some added layers of visual meaning pertaining to both cinema and Tacoma.
“When we realized that one small team had designed many of our favorite posters for Seattle and Tacoma arts events AND that they lived in Tacoma we knew we had to reach out to them,” says TFF Director Laura Marshall.
A celebration of independent film mirroring the diverse and eclectic sensibilities of western Washington’s second larges city, this year’s Tacoma Film Festival will be held October 9-16 with over 100 selections from the Pacific Northwest and all over the world. Film selections will begin to be announced in August, tickets will go on sale in August.
