  • poster // Squeak ‘n’ Squawk : 2013

This is the poster we designed for the 2013 iteration of the annual Squeak ‘n’ Squawk music festival in Tacoma, Wash.  If there was a squeaking and squawking animal that was the festival’s mascot, this would be one of its feathers.

It was that time of day when the sun was at its highest, with a hint of heat-induced delirium creeping over the crowd, when the witchy tree people of Kithkin took to the Main Stage at TIMBER! Outdoor Music Festival.

What happened next was a frenzy of music and mania and maybe even sorcery that spellbound the audience and provided one of the most memorable sets of the weekend. So much happened—guitars were played with teeth, Lemolo’s Kendra jumped on stage for an impromptu drum jam, Kithkin’s Kelton Sears wandered through the crowd preaching post-apocalyptic screes and a banana was eaten. Into the microphone.

We are still glowing from the campfires, live music, good friends and glittering waters of the first annual TIMBER! Outdoor Music Festival.

Congratulations to our friends at Artist Home for so successfully creating such a beautiful weekend immersed in nature and music. From the bald eagle soaring over Quasi’s set and the sun-baked dips in the river to the late laugh riots around campfires and music always drifting through the pines—this was a weekend no one who attended will forget.

We’ve collected some of our favorite photos from the weekend below—keep an eye out for videos!

  • photos // Lemolo + The Kaleidoscope Dance

Here is a gallery of photographs from the recent Lemolo and The Kaleidoscope Dance put on by The Warehouse, featuring Lemolo performing their dreamy debut album The Kaleidoscope accompanied by original choreography from Tacoma’s MLKBallet and The BareFoot Collective.  The highly-anticipated event was even more moving and beautiful than expected.  Lemolo, the dancers and The Warehouse are hopefully patting themselves on the back a bit—and the rest of us are looking forward to more shows like this!

video // White Moustache Urban Adventure Co. : Musical Plates

When thinking to ourselves of a few of our favorite things, we often find “food” and “music” sitting at the top of the list.  The mad genius Bryce Lathrop has invented a new way one may experience both at the same time—his one-of-a-kind gastro tour company White Moustache (“Seattle’s only eating tour on wheels”) now offers a Musical Plates tour which pairs lucky eaters/listeners with a local, independent band and their epicurean tastes.  Bryce hand-picks courses from his favorite Seattle eateries inspired by the favorite foods of each band member.

Cruising through the twinkling lights of Seattle’s skyline and diverse hoods with some of our newest friends, an incredible band—Tacoma’s Goldfinch—and some mind-blowing food was about as serendipitous as we’d like a moment to get!
