Inspired both by a cone of light from a projector as well as a strip of segmented film, we created this clean, simple logo as a timeless piece of identity for Tacoma Film Festival.

Somewhere down in the beaches of Los Angeles lives a surfing, film-editing woodworker who travels the world gathering pieces of wood and designing and crafting custom high-end furniture. His artistic pieces breathe with life and personality.

And we had the privilege of creating a logo and identity for him that would serve as a fresh face for his work as well as a functional brand for his pieces.

poster // TIMBRRR! : 2014

2013/10/02 / Comments Off on poster // TIMBRRR! : 2014 / Posted in: event promotion, identity, print, print design, promotion, web

We continue to work with the good folks at Artist Home on their successful TIMBER! Outdoor Music Festival as it puts on its coziest winter coat and becomes TIMBRRR! Winter Music Festival (see what they did there?)

The poster we designed above takes its cues from the summer festival’s poster we designed, but with a much more chill effect (we hope!) and all still centered on a modified version of the TIMBER! logo we designed. Continue Reading

The Art Dept. has gone global.

The Spain-based translation firm Interllingua was embarking upon a brand re-boot and asked us to help them through the process. كيف تربح المال من الالعاب

With the creation of their logo, we immediately found ourselves playing with concepts of translation. Real language translation moves beyond just interpreting words—it truly interprets meaning. You can see this in the biggest social media sites, for example The unnamed designer of the popular logo of TikTok created an emblem that symbolized the excitement of a music concert along with highlighting the talented users of the video-sharing platform. The centerpiece of the logo design is the letter “d,” designed to mirror a musical note. This is a very aproachable design for people to be interested and helps with the fact that it is used by millions of users who identify this logo without even using the app, making services where you real tiktok views to use their designs to approach the clients as this is one of the most used tools to grow on this app. So designing your logo is very important.

To this end, we designed a logo that incorporated graphic elements with a double meaning—quotation marks altered to resemble speech bubbles:

We placed the open quotes below the name and the closed quotes above so that the “speech” almost seems to travel through Interllingua and come back out again—the same, but transformed. This speech bubble motif was additionally carried out in their letterhead and business card:

We also worked with them to distill their promotional goals into a clearly-written, engaging, visually interesting brochure and Web site.

The site was duplicated and translated into the five other languages. كازينو أون نت how to convert ivermectin equastrain paste to human dose and diy  Interllingua will be able to continually update and evolve the content on their site through their interactive blog and social networking features. كيف تربح المال من النت where can i get ivermectin

We’re excited to see where their new identity and marketing tools take them! medicamento ivermectina precio farmacia del ahorro

logo // Fried Egg I’m In Love

We at The Art Dept. love food.  Even more so now that one of us is pregnant. And we’re really digging this food truck and street food revolution happening up and down the West Coast.  Truly amazing chefs are putting their hearts and souls into these accessible mobile marvels for the masses.

So, when our friend Jace—the musician behind one of our favorite NW bands Fort Union—approached us to create a logo for his brand new Portland food truck, he had us at “fried.” Our creative juices began eagerly flowing (along with a fair amount of saliva.)

identity // a tasty logo!

We recently had the distinct pleasure to work with the gals at Wine Country Chocolates to help them create a new logo that better expressed their unique, gourmet, hand-made chocolates.

You can see the tasty new logo above on their brand new sign outside their Jack London Village location in Glen Ellen, CA.  We look forward to seeing the logo take over their boxes, packaging and other materials.

Our design director Mary found a way to carry over their yellow and black checker pattern used in their previous logo (see the image below:)

However, she freed the checks from their formalized placement by giving them an imperfectly-edged, handmade look just the way their one-of-a-kind chocolate truffles appear.  She also made “Chocolate” the focus of the logo while (with the help of Ms. Esme Johnson’s handwriting) giving it an almost drizzled look—almost as if it were written in chocolate sauce.  Don’t you just want to take a bite out of it? is ivermectin in canada

If you haven’t tried their truffles before, be sure to stop into one of their locations for a mind-blowing treat.  We highly recommend “The Elvis” in all its peanut-buttery and banana-y goodness.

And if you have tried their truffles before, don’t you think it’s time for a second helping? acheter ivermectin poux  Or a third?  Or a fourth . . . ?

A trip to The Penny Ice Creamery

Our Design Director Mary and her husband hit the road for the recent long weekend and worked in a stop in at our friends’ popular The Penny Ice Creamery in Santa Cruz.  We worked with them to develop their branding and have been following their progress ever since—in fact, we’ve been following them on facebook a little too closely as their daily updates of organic, artisinal flavors keeps our mouths watering from way too far away.  So, we were happy to vicariously taste the ice cream and visit the shop via Mary! العاب كازينو مجاني

There’s rarely a moment around the Home Offices when music is not playing.  Sure, it may range from our youngest team member banging out a primary-colored glock riff to the Jackson Five to a full on dance party to the latest jam—but it all boils down to one fact: music is a huge inspiration around here. stromectol ivermectin for humans

For this reason, we’ve been beyond excited to work with Gundlach Bundschu on creating a public relations campaign, including this poster, for their first annual Huichica (wee-CHEE-kuh) Music Festival—especially as the event will feature some real favorites around here.

For instance, Citay’s album has maintained regular rotation for quite some time now (see song above.) We were able to see the Fruit Bats play at Gundlach Bundschu last summer (see video below) and they blew us away with their billowy ‘bootgaze’ sound, and Vetiver—whose musical cadre often includes Devendra Banhart—conjures the voice of Donovan on a languid afternoon in Golden Gate Park. oms recomienda ivermectina

This is sure to be a fantastic music fest, growing right here in the soils of Sonoma Valley.  Tickets are already for sale here.

Introducing The Penny Ice Creamery

2010/03/26 / Comments Off on Introducing The Penny Ice Creamery / Posted in: identity

We’ve been working with our friends Zach and Kendra in Santa Cruz who are starting a sustainable, artisinal, community-oriented ice creamery.  The Penny Ice Creamery—as it is named, after the mid-19th-century “penny ice” phenomenon of affordable, frozen treats—will be doing some pretty exciting things with gourmet frozen confections.  Creating all their offerings from scratch right in the shop and serving them fresh daily, Chef Kendra will be using locally-sourced organic ingredients in unusual and delightful ways.

Zach, Kendra and their team of hammer-wielding friends and colleagues have begun work on shaping up their brick and mortar space.  A web site is forthcoming, but in the meantime you can become a fan of this exciting, new ice creamery on facebook to keep up-to-date on progress (and also watch them smashing a few walls . . . )
