When it comes to our wedding division The Heart Dept., we’re never ones to resist getting tantalizing close-ups of tulle and shortcake. So earlier this spring Sarah delighted in filming a little slice of the glittered, glammy spectacle that is the Northwest Vintage Wedding Fair.
Sarah reports :
Let’s just say that there was enough vintage elegance and eye candy and antiquated treasures and sweetly scripted invitations and feathery fascinators and Broaches (with a capital B) to put an F. Scott Fitzgerald garden party to shame. I would tell you there was vintage chocolate, but thank goodness there wasn’t—just freshly made, oh so au (more…)
This is the poster we designed for the 2013 iteration of the annual Squeak ‘n’ Squawk music festival in Tacoma, Wash. If there was a squeaking and squawking animal that was the festival’s mascot, this would be one of its feathers.
Under the guise as our alter ego The Heart Dept., we recently had the privilege of being part of an amazing couple’s nuptials—Adam and Courtney.

All that glitters is not gold. A lot of it is glitter, actually. And yummy frosted cupcakes. And sprinkles of fine culinary salts. And crusts of snow on tiny trees. The Art Department was pleased as punch to host Glitter Haus this year, a holiday open house featuring extraordinary artisan gifts, organized by Tacoma crafting mavens Sarah Smith of Deeds & Petunia, Laurie Cinotto of Lalalaurie and Lori Meyer of Parisienne Girl Design. Eight talented vendors decked the halls of the Berkley compound for one afternoon while locals savored cider, noshed on delicious nibbles and shopped their way through all sorts of seasonal treasures.
We believe the event was a great success, with all of the holiday bustle and none of the hustle. We love supporting local artists, and we hope Glitter Haus continues to flourish every year. You can find out more about the crafters here.
Tacoma photographer Jessica Uhler, whose work we very much admire, kindly provided us photos of the affair. (We were too busy shopping. And eating. And merrymaking.) (more…)
Tacoma band Goldfinch has a new album out—and it’s being officially released at the upcoming CATHEDRALS Tacoma. We captured them performing one of the songs for the new album—accompanied by an original dance piece—in the historic Immanuel Presbyterian. Also this video from the same night of their cover of Perfume Genius’ Hood:

We love supporting our local market—especially when they support local farms and producers. Metropolitan Market has become a go-to source for excellent, locally-sourced foods and we’ve recently had the good fortune to work with them as a client.
A couple months ago they asked us to capture a few of nearby vendors for a series of short videos as part of a “Celebrate Local” campaign. Visiting local farms, orchards and distilleries and learning a little about them while making a video was more like fun than work for us. Drinking a cold soda outside a circa 1935 grocery store in the middle of pastoral farmlands while waiting to meet a berry farmer—it’s right up our alley!
Take a look for yourselves:
